By preserving the classic white hexagonal bathroom tile of the past and adding modern features, this bathroom remodel in Manhattan propels to contemporary
In the 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s, well-dressed bathroom floors were usually outfitted with white hexagonal bathroom tile. The look was out of style by the 1950’s, but in recent years demand for white ceramic “hexies” has revived.
Eclectic Builders uses a creamy white color palette and contemporary style to propel this bathroom’s vintage style into the 21st century.
The walls are tiled in ceramic glazed bathroom tile. The vanity – with stainless steel accents – and a glass shower enclosure, create the feeling of airiness. The modern fit windows keep the cold out in the winter, and the heat in the summer.
The last touch on this small bathroom remodel includes the custom-built marble saddle on this enclosed shower – an absolutely necessary adjustment given the tight space in this turn-of-the-century building. We don’t always have the benefit of unlimited space, and that’s where Eclectic Builders comes in. Tight places can often be a challenge, but for Eclectic Builders, it’s an opportunity!
